About Me
🪐About Me
Hello, and welcome to this website. I'm Elko, currently a student in Animation and Concept Design at SCAD. If you'd like to view my résumé, please visit my LinkedIn.
I have a love for drawing, worldbuilding, and electronic technology. Here, I'll be sharing my work and blog. I was born with red-green color weakness and am left-handed — this makes me feel like my perspective on the world might be a little different from other people's.
To me, my defining traits are sincerity and enthusiasm. I love dedicating large amounts of time to the things I care about and immersing myself in them. I also hope to be as sincere as possible with other people and with my own work.
In my creative work, I am an obsessive idealist. My pursuit in art is work that is distinctive, independent, and carries grand meaning. The Star of Departure is the long-term hard-core sci-fi project I am building — I have been putting continuous effort into it for 7 years, and the story has gone through multiple complete overhauls and reconstructions.
The story begins with humanity's last survivors fleeing a war-torn Earth aboard a ship, arriving at an alien world home to another intelligent species — they discover that the planet's native biology can suppress electricity and heat, rendering the entire logic of human industrial civilization nearly ineffective. Faced with an alien race, the survivors' leaders give five fundamentally different answers: coexistence, peace, conquest, assimilation, exploitation. These different ideas lead to disagreement, and then war, begins here. Will humanity ultimately learn to coexist with an alien species, or will it replay Earth's fate on The Star of Departure?
🖥️About This Website
This website started as a simple experiment — a place to learn, document, and create.
I built this website with Astro because tools like Adobe Portfolio cannot save web pages locally. This design, which forces users to keep paying by making export impossible, is clearly an anti-user feature designed for corporate self-protection. So I prefer free and open-source tools that provide features users actually need — these tools make me feel more secure about my creative work.
I use AI tools to help with coding, and this is also one way I'm learning to code. I'll try to add more features to the website to make the browsing experience better.
The site is still being continuously improved. I'll gradually add better page animations for a better reading experience, and add more work and articles. Thanks for visiting!
